 Let's face it "Stains Happen". Unfortunately, we are not always equipped to handle them. The best "Tool" is  knowing just how to treat the many different types of stains. Some need cold water and some need hot water. Some need to be pretreated and some need to be soaked. Follow the instructions below to treat and remove just about every kind of stain imaginable.

 Common Stains and the Proper Removal Procedures

Blood-Soak in cold water, then wash in warm
Chewing Gum-Rub with ice, scrap off as much as you can, lightly dab with concentrated cleaner, rinse and wash
Chocolate-Soak in cold water for 20 minutes, rub concentrated cleaner into fabric, wash in the hottest water that is safe for the fabric
Coffee or Tea-Soak in cold water, use bleach treatment with the hottest water safe for the fabric, wash
Cosmetics-Lightly apply liquid detergent to stain, Work until stain is gone and rinse well. Repeat if necessary, bleach if safe for fabric.
Crayon-Loosen stain with kitchen shortening, apply concentrated detergent, working in until outline of stain is removed, wash as usual
Deodorant- scrub using white vinegar. If stain remains, saturate with denatured alcohol and scrub, rinse, and wash as usual.

Fruit Juice or Wine-Follow same instructions as coffee. If that doesn't work, dab with hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice. If hot water can't be used, sponge with cool water and rub glycerin into stain, wash as normal

Grass-Rub detergent into stain, wash in bleach if possible
Grease-Scrape off as much as possible, rub lots of detergent into stain, wash as usual
Ink-Spray stain with hairspray until soaked good, let stand 10 minutes, scrub with lots of liquid detergent, wash and repeat if necessary
Ketchup-Scrape off excess, soak in cold water, wash as usual
Mildew-Pre-treat with detergent, wash, if stain persists treat with hydrogen peroxide, wash as usual
Milk-Soak stain in cool water for 30-45 minutes, work detergent into stain and wash as usual
Mud-Scrape off dried portion, sponge off with cold water then wash in the hottest water fabric will take. If stain remains, sponge with 2 parts water and 1 part alcohol, wash as usual
Mustard-Rub glycerin into stain. Pre-treat with concentrated detergent, wash as usual
Nail Polish-DO NOT use nail polish remover. Sponge with pure banana oil which can be purchased at drug stores. wash as usual. If stain persists, dab with alcohol and wash as normal.
Oil-Pre-treat fabric with concentrated detergent. Let stand 1 hour, then wash in the hottest water possible. If stain persists, bleach if fabric will allow. wash as usual
  Perspiration-Sponge new stain with ammonia. Sponge old stain with vinegar. Rinse and wash in the hottest water that is safe for fabric. Bleach if possible
Rust-Apply rust remover following manufacturers directions
Soda-Sponge immediately with cold water and wash
Transmission Fluid-Pre-treat fabric with concentrated detergent then wash in the hottest water the fabric will allow
